Hey guys! So, today I am doing a review on the Throne of Glass series. It is a series of 8 books, so if you decide to read it should keep you busy for quite a while. The reason that the title claims that this is only a part 1 is because, well, there are 8 books in this series. I got this series as a Christmas gift from some of our family friends who were visiting for New Year’s. So, I sped through the first 3 books, but then I came to the fourth book and I sort of slowed down. I actually forgot I was reading the fourth book, and started another series, but now I’m back on it, and I should be back for another post in this series within the next couple of weeks. This will be a big post, so buckle in. Before I forget, a special shoutout to Uncle Pavan, Aunty Namarta, Lavanya, and Kiaan for getting this for me. Anyways, let’s dive into it.

- The Assassin’s Blade
Sarah J. Maas
For this first book, I am going to explain this sort of fantasy world and the characters in it, as well as the first story, or “novella” as the author calls it, in this book, but if I try to explain the other 4 novellas in this book it would definitely give away some stuff, and we hate spoilers here, so that’s a big no-no. So, I better explain the world of Erilea to you. First off, Erilea is obviously a fantasy world in which this book takes place. There is a dictator that is taking over their world, and has hurt many people. He runs the kingdom Adarlan. He is slowly taking over their continent, and most don’t like him. The main character of this book, a 17 year old girl named Celaena Sardothien, hates him. However, she is the most notorious assassin in Adarlan, and most refer to her as Adarlan’s Assassin. She isn’t technically his assassin as she belongs to an Assassin’s Guild run by Arobynn Hamel. But she is the best assassin in that Guild and probably in all of Erilea. She is Arobynn’s second, which basically means when Arobynn dies, she will take over the Guild. Anyways the first book starts with her and Sam Cortland, who hates her, going on a mission to Skull Bay to do some business for Arobynn, but when they hear about their master’s business with Skull Bay’s leader, they are utterly disgusted, and decide it might be time for them to disobey him. That’s it for the first book, and now you’re all caught up on Erilea lore.

2. Throne of Glass
Sarah J. Maas
Oml, this is going to be a long post. It’s taken me like an hour to write just this much. Anyways, if you are looking to read this series read that first book because there will unfortunately be spoilers from that book in here. So, Celaena was sent to Endovier, which is a slave camp. Then, one day, the Prince of Adarlan, Dorian Havilliard, comes to talk to her. He tells her that the King is having a competition with all the best murderers, assassins, and soldiers to see who is worthy to become the King’s “Champion”, which is basically a person that does all the King’s dirty work. Dorian wants her to also be his Champion and that after 5 years of serving them she will be free. Celaena seizes the chance, and is taken back to the castle. She begins grueling training with the Captain of the Guard, Chaol Westfall. Personally, I love Chaol even if he is salty in the beginning. Anyways Chaol low-key hates her, and is really hard on her, even though she’s just spent the past year in a slave camp and is sort of out of sync with killing people and stuff, but it kinda works out. They go on runs every morning, and work out, and spar and stuff. She also meets a foreign princess named Nehemia and is kind of friends with her. But, a mysterious evil is killing the competitors, and Celaena is working on winning the competition, but is also trying to defeat this evil. That’s the second book. Only one more to go.

3. Crown of Midnight
Sarah J. Maas
I loved this book sooooooo much. Ohhhhh it was so good. So, Celaena is with Chaol now (just putting this out there, I was always shipping them) and Celaena is besties with Princess Nehemia, who I didn’t really describe in all that much detail in the review of the first book. Basically she is a Princess from Eyllwe, a neighbouring country, who is visiting Adarlan to learn their customs. Princess Nehemia has really strong views on everything, and she doesn’t like Adarlan all that much because of their involvement in the slave camps, which makes her a perfect match for Celaena. Celaena is also now the King’s Champion (the blatant spoilers from the first book), but she is definitely not loyal to the Crown. She is keeping a terrible secret from everybody, and if the King found out she would most certainly die. And when the King sends her to dispatch a secret rebel movement her secret that I mentioned kind of becomes a problem. I’m going to leave it at that for this for the third book.
This post took me a good two and a half hours, so you guys better like it. Mb, that sounded really harsh. Just try to like it. I can’t believe that there are still 5 more books in his series. I hate to say it but this might be a three-parter guys. Anyway, that’s my post! Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
