Top 5 Books of 2022

Hey guys! So, it is nearly the end of yet another year. I honestly can’t believe that. Anyways, I have already done a post like this last year (check that out). I thought, time to come full circle, and make this like an annual thing. Also, just a note, this year I’m not just doing books that came out in 2022, because literally no books came out in 2022. K, let’s get started.

  1. Rise of the School for Good and Evil

Soman Chainani

So, I started “Top 5 Books of 2021” with a Soman Chainani book and I’m starting this post with a Soman Chainani book also. This book was one of my favourite books of the whole year. This book also has a really long title, so I’m just gonna say this book. This book is basically just telling us about the history of the School for Good and Evil, how the brothers came to war, and how some of the most famous Evers and Nevers came to be. They talk about Aladdin and Captain Hook, Rhian and Rafal, and even when the Schools were all together. It goes through what life was like back then, in the fairy tale world. The way that they managed the schools was very different. I think that this book is a great book if you are deep into the world of School for Good and Evil. However, there are some spoilers, so I would suggest finishing the School for Good and Evil series first.

2. Curses

Lish McBride

Curses is such a good book. I literally love it sooo much. It’s like Beauty and the Beast, but less princessey (ik its not a word, just let me have it). Basically, there’s this girl named Merit, and she was cursed by this Fairy Godling person (an evil fairy godmother) to be a beast until she found love, and if she didn’t find love before she was 18, she’d be a beast forever. Then there’s this guy named Tevin. I don’t really like that name, if I’m being honest. Tevin, is like a thief. He basically just steals money from other people using his good looks and stuff. I don’t really know, but it doesn’t matter. His whole family are thieves and they basically abuse Tevin and his siblings. Then his mom gets in trouble with Merit, that beasty girl. So, Tevin has to go and save his mom, and to pay the debt he has to help Merit find a suitor before she turns 18 in either 6 or 3 weeks. I don’t remember if it’s 6 weeks or 3 weeks, so you’ll just have to read the book to find out. Anyways, that’s this book. Definitely read it.

3. We Dream of Space

Erin Entrada Kelly

We Dream of Space is a really amazing book. I think that it one the Newberry Honor Medal, which is a really big deal, if you don’t know what that is. It tells 3 siblings stories. Cash is the oldest and loves basketball. However, he was held back a year, and he feels like he’s being left out of everything. Fitch loves to play at the arcade near his house, and has a bit of a cray-cray temper. Bird is his twin, and dreams of being the first female shuttle commander, and is building her dreams around the launch of the Challenger. They all lead seemingly different lives, in the same busy household. One fateful day will change everything for Bird, Fitch, and Cash. I think you guys should read this book. I always start and end these little paragraphs the same way. I’ll try to mix things up for #4.

4. Out of My Mind

Sharon M. Draper

Out of My Mind is a book about a girl named Melody. She is really smart, but she has cerebral palsy. Her cerebral palsy doesn’t let her talk or move. She leads a very simple life. Wake up, go to school, go to her neighbour’s house, go home. However, at school she is in the special education class. She does the same things every single day. Finally, she is allowed to go to regular classes, because she got her own EA (educational assistant). She also gets a machine that finally lets her talk. Melody also decides to join a math club. Her math club is studying to go for a competition against people all over the country. Things start to really change for Melody, but sometimes good doesn’t last. I really recommend this book (i just can’t help myself), and I hope you guys try it.

5. Stepsisters

Jennifer Donnelly

Stepsisters is about what happens to Cinderella’s stepsisters after Cinderella left them for her Prince Charming. Isabella cut off her own toes to get her Prince Charming, and when he finds out about her lies, he is disgusted. Isabella tried to be exactly like her stepsister. Sweet. Pretty. Kind. She tried to be what her mother wanted her to be. To fit into what society wanted her to be she didn’t just cut off her own toes. She cut off pieces of her soul. When she’s given a chance to get these pieces back, and make herself whole, she grabs it. This book is really deep and it sounds kind of gory, but it’s not. I really love this book so much. You have to read it. That sounds really threatening. I’m not gonna come to your house and be like, “You have to read this book!”, just try to read it. Cuz, it’s really good.

So, that is this post. I really hope that you guys enjoyed it, and that you guys will try to read these books. Have a fun Christmas Break, and I’ll see you guys next year (probably)!
